# Meetings overview

> Track, record, and review meetings with clients, prospects, and your team in Slant.

Meetings in Slant capture every conversation — whether it's an online video call, a phone call, or an in-person meeting — and turn it into searchable notes, summaries, and follow-up tasks using AI.

Meetings appear automatically from your [connected calendar](/setting-up-slant/integrations/email-and-calendar), or you can create them manually from a household, [other contact](/records/other-contacts), or [business](/records/businesses). After a meeting is recorded or a transcript is uploaded, Slant generates an AI summary, detailed notes, and recommended [tasks](/activity/tasks/overview).

## Meeting types

Every meeting has a type that helps Slant organize your schedule and tailor AI output. You can set the type manually when creating a meeting, or Slant infers it automatically based on the participants and title.

Slant starts with locked default types: **Client review**, **Client check-in**, **Prospect**, **COI / partner**, **Internal**, and **Other**. Admins can add company-specific meeting types from **Settings** → **Data customizations** → **Meeting types**. Custom types include a name, color, and AI description that helps Slant classify meetings and apply the right prompt guidance.

You can change a meeting's type at any time from the [meeting detail page](/activity/meetings/meeting-review#meeting-details).

## The meetings page

Open **Meetings** from the sidebar to see all meetings in your book. The page has three built-in tabs:

<Note>
  Meetings you cancel on your calendar are automatically hidden from every meeting list — the **Meetings** page and the **Meetings** tab on household, other contact, and business records. Cancelling a single occurrence of a recurring series hides only that occurrence. There is no toggle to show cancelled meetings.
</Note>

### Upcoming

Shows future meetings from your calendar and any manually created meetings, grouped by day. Each meeting card displays the title, type, time, location or link, and participants. Click a meeting to see its details in a side panel where you can edit the title, type, associated households, and users, or add preparation notes.

The message "To see meetings further in the future, check the calendar section" appears at the bottom — meetings beyond the near-term window are visible on the [Calendar](/dashboard/calendar) page.

### Processed

Shows past meetings that have been recorded or transcribed and processed by AI. Use this tab to quickly find meetings with summaries, notes, and tasks ready for review.

### All meetings

A full data table of every meeting in your book, past and present. Columns include:

* **Meeting** — the meeting title (click to open)
* **Type** — meeting type (editable inline)
* **Date** — when the meeting took place
* **Participants** — calendar participants
* **Household** — linked households (editable inline)
* **Users** — team members on the meeting
* **Source** — how the meeting was created (Calendar, Logged, Imported, Instant, Mobile app, or Phone call)
* **AI processed** — whether AI has generated content for this meeting

### All books

If you select **All books** from the book switcher, the **Meetings** page shows meetings from every book you can access. Each meeting shows which book it belongs to — a book label on the card, and a **Book** column on the **All meetings** tab. A calendar event shared across books appears once per book, so you can see each book's copy.

Most of the page — tabs, filters, search, and the meeting details panel — works the same in All books mode.

<Note>
  A couple of things behave differently. Only company-wide custom views appear; views saved to a single book are hidden until you switch back to that book. And you can't add associations to a meeting from All books — open the meeting from its own book to edit them.
</Note>

### Custom views

Click **+** next to the tabs to create a custom view with your own filters. Each view saves its filter configuration independently. You can rename, reorder, or delete custom views.

## Filtering and search

Use the quick filter chips at the top of the meeting list to filter by:

* **User** — meetings associated with a specific team member
* **Meeting type** — filter by one or more meeting types
* **Date** — filter by date range, before, or after a specific date

On the **All meetings** tab, additional filter options include:

* **AI processed** — show only meetings with or without AI content
* **Meeting source** — narrow the list by how each meeting was created: **Calendar** (from your connected calendar), **Logged** (manually logged), **Imported** (migrated from another CRM), **Instant** (ad-hoc recording), **Mobile app**, or **Phone call**. Select more than one to combine sources
* **Filter** — combine multiple conditions for advanced filtering

Use the <Icon icon="search" /> icon to find meetings by title, household name, or participant name and email.

## How meetings are created

Meetings enter Slant in several ways:

* **Calendar sync** — meetings from your [connected calendar](/setting-up-slant/integrations/email-and-calendar) appear automatically on the **Upcoming** tab. Online meetings with a video link (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, or Slack) are detected and the [notetaker](/activity/meetings/notetaker) joins automatically.
* **Start meeting** — click **Start meeting** on the meetings page, or from a household, contact, or business detail page, to [create a meeting manually](/activity/meetings/creating-and-recording-meetings).
* **Phone calls** — calls to a dedicated recording number are captured as meetings. See [phone call meetings](/activity/meetings/creating-and-recording-meetings#phone-call-meetings).
* **Imports** — meetings imported from another CRM appear with a source of "Imported."

## Linking meetings to records

Each meeting can be filed under a [household](/records/clients/overview), an [other contact](/records/other-contacts), or a [business](/records/businesses), and linked to team members. Calendar participants are shown as email badges — click the **+** on a participant to create a new prospect, client, or other contact from that email.

Linking a meeting to a record ensures it appears on that record's **Meetings** tab and timeline, and helps Slant generate more relevant AI content. When you click **Start meeting** from a household, contact, or business, the meeting is automatically filed under that record.

## What happens after a meeting

When a meeting has a transcript — from the [notetaker](/activity/meetings/notetaker), a web recording, a phone call, or an uploaded file — Slant automatically generates:

* **Summary** — a concise overview of the key takeaways
* **Notes** — detailed, structured meeting notes
* **Tasks** — recommended follow-up action items linked to the meeting

You can review and edit all of this on the [meeting detail page](/activity/meetings/meeting-review). You can also [customize the AI prompts](/activity/meetings/customizing-meeting-ai) that generate this content.

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Do I need a calendar integration for meetings to work?">
    No. You can create meetings manually using the **Start meeting** button, upload past recordings or transcripts, and record phone calls — all without a calendar connection. However, connecting your calendar lets meetings appear automatically and enables the notetaker to join online meetings.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I delete a meeting?">
    Yes. Open the meeting detail page and click the <Icon icon="trash-2" /> icon in the top-right corner. Deleting a meeting removes it and its associated AI content permanently.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Who can access meetings?">
    Users with access to the book can normally access its meetings. For an eligible past meeting processed by the notetaker, an admin or the book principal can make the meeting private and choose which users retain access. The book principal always has access.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What video platforms does Slant support?">
    Slant detects meeting links from Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, and Slack. The notetaker can automatically join meetings on any of these platforms.
