# Create and share dashboards

> Build company dashboards and share them as tabs on Home.

Create dashboards that bring your practice’s numbers, charts, and lists onto [Home](/dashboard/home).

<Note>
  You need **Manage dashboards** permission to create or edit dashboards. Sharing a dashboard does not grant access to additional books.
</Note>

## Create a dashboard

<Steps>
  <Step title="Go to dashboard settings">
    Go to **Settings** → **Dashboards** and click **Create dashboard**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Describe what you want to track">
    Enter a description under **What dashboard would you like?** or choose a template, then click **Build dashboard**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Refine the draft">
    Use **Dashboard chat** to request changes. To add a widget manually, click **Add widget**, choose an empty position, then select a widget type.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review and publish">
    Choose a **Preview book**, review the dashboard, and click **Publish** when it is ready.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Published dashboards appear on Home for the people and books they are shared with. Draft changes stay separate until you publish them.

## Edit widgets

The widget library includes activity widgets, bar and line graphs, area and pie charts, metrics, and tables. Use a widget’s options to edit its settings. You can also rename its **Card title** directly in the editor.

Use **Preview book** to check a specific book or **All books**. Results remain limited to books you can access.

## Share a dashboard

Click **Share**, select **Books** and **People**, then click **Save**. Each person sees only data they can access.

In **Settings** → **Dashboards**, the **Published** and **Drafts** groups show your dashboards. Select one to preview it, then click **Edit** to change it.

## Return a dashboard to draft

Open the dashboard’s actions menu and select **Convert to draft**. This removes it from Home while preserving it for editing.

The same menu offers **Duplicate dashboard** to create a separate copy.
