# Insurance policies

> Track life and property and casualty insurance policies for client households.

Insurance policies keep coverage, premium, ownership, and servicing details with the client household they protect.

## Browse insurance policies

Click **Accounts** → **Insurance** in the sidebar. The **Insurance policies** list includes policy, household, insurance type, carrier, policy number, premium, coverage, and renewal details.

Use **Insurance type**, **Filter**, or a saved view to narrow the list. Click a policy to open its household and edit the policy.

## Add an insurance policy

    Select a client or prospect and open the **Records** tab.

    Expand **Accounts**, then click **Add insurance policy**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the policy category">
    Select **Life** or **Property & casualty** under **Insurance type**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter policy details">
    Add the **Policy name**, carrier, policy number, dates, owners, insured people, premium, and coverage details that apply.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save the policy">
    Click **Add policy**. The policy appears on the household and in **Accounts** → **Insurance**.

## Policy details

Available fields depend on the insurance type.

* **Life policies** — Track the life policy type, permanent policy type, term duration, convertibility, face amount, death benefit, cash value, owners, and insured people.
* **Property and casualty policies** — Track the policy type, effective and renewal dates, named and additional insureds, deductibles, and agent or broker.
* **Premium and servicing** — Record premium amounts, payment frequency, carrier details, and servicing information.

## Edit or delete a policy

Open the policy from the household or the **Insurance policies** list. Update the fields and click **Save policy**.

Deleting a policy permanently removes its stored details.

  Deleting an insurance policy cannot be undone.
