You can create meetings in Slant for any type of conversation — online video calls, phone calls, or in-person meetings. Click Start meeting on the Meetings page to open the creation form with three tabs: In person, Meeting link, and Past meeting.

Meeting preparation

Slant automatically generates an AI preparation brief for upcoming meetings that have at least one linked household. The prep pulls from the household’s history, recent notes, past meeting summaries, and upcoming context to give you a quick refresher before the meeting starts. Prep is generated automatically when a household is linked to an upcoming meeting within the next 7 days. If you create a meeting three days from now and link a household, the prep generates right away. For meetings further out, prep is generated as the meeting enters the 7-day window. The more data Slant has on the household — notes, past meetings, tasks, and account details — the more useful the prep will be. If the prep content is useful, click Save as notes to copy it into the meeting’s notepad for reference during the meeting. You can customize the prep prompt to control what the AI focuses on.

Online meetings

Online meetings are video or audio calls on platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, or Slack. When you have a connected calendar, online meetings appear automatically on the Upcoming tab and the notetaker joins to record them. You don’t need to do anything — the notetaker handles recording and transcription.

Create an online meeting manually

If you have an online meeting that isn’t on your calendar, create it manually so the notetaker can join:
1

Click Start meeting

On the Meetings page, click Start meeting.
2

Select the **Meeting link** tab

3

Fill in the details

Optionally select a Household and Meeting type. Enter a Title and paste the meeting URL into the Meeting link field.
4

Click Create meeting

The meeting is created and the notetaker is invited to join at the link you provided.

Phone call meetings

Slant can record and transcribe phone calls as meetings. There are two ways phone calls become meetings:

Call the Slant recording number

Each book has a dedicated recording number. Call (888) 565-3692 from a phone number linked to your account, and Slant records the call and creates a meeting with a full transcript. To link your phone number:
1

Open notetaker settings

Go to SettingsNotetaker and select your book’s tab.
2

Add your phone number

Under Allowed inbound phone numbers, click Add phone number and enter the number you’ll call from.
Once your number is linked, any call you make to the recording number from that phone is automatically recorded and processed.

Phone integration

If you have a phone integration that automatically transcribes calls, those transcripts are captured as meetings without any additional setup.

In-person meetings

For meetings that happen face-to-face without a video link, you have two recording options.

Record on web

Record directly from your browser:
1

Click Start meeting

On the Meetings page, click Start meeting.
2

Select the **In person** tab

3

Fill in the details

Optionally select a Household, Meeting type, and Title.
4

Click Record on web

Your browser begins recording audio. A recording indicator appears on the meeting page.
5

Stop recording when finished

Click the stop button to end the recording. Slant processes the audio and generates a transcript.

Call my phone

Slant can call your phone to record the meeting. This is useful when you want to capture an in-person conversation using your phone’s microphone:
1

Click Start meeting

On the Meetings page, click Start meeting.
2

Select the **In person** tab

3

Fill in the details

Optionally select a Household, Meeting type, and Title.
4

Click Call my phone

Slant calls the phone number on your account. Answer the call and place your phone near the conversation to record.

Record from the meeting detail page

You can also start recording from an existing meeting’s detail page. Open any upcoming or current meeting, and use the Record button to choose Record on web or Call my phone.

Upload a past meeting

If you have a recording or transcript from a meeting that already happened, you can upload it to Slant:
1

Click Start meeting

On the Meetings page, click Start meeting.
2

Select the **Past meeting** tab

3

Fill in the details

Select a Household and Meeting type. Enter a Title, and set the Date and Time when the meeting took place.
4

Attach a recording or transcript

Under Attachments, click Add recording to upload an audio or video file, or click Add transcript to upload a text file (.txt or .vtt).
5

Add notes (optional)

Enter any additional context in the Notes field.
6

Click Create meeting

The meeting is created and Slant begins processing the recording or transcript.

Upload to an existing meeting

You can also upload a recording or transcript to a meeting that already exists. Open the meeting detail page and click Upload, then choose Upload recording or Upload transcript.
Transcript uploads accept .txt and .vtt files up to 500,000 characters. If a transcript already exists, you’ll be asked to confirm the replacement.

FAQ

In person creates a meeting you record live using your browser or phone. Meeting link creates a meeting with an online link so the notetaker can join. Past meeting lets you log a meeting that already happened and upload a recording or transcript.
Yes. You can create a past meeting without uploading any attachments, or create an in-person meeting and skip recording. You can always add a recording or transcript later from the meeting detail page.
Slant accepts common audio and video formats for recording uploads. For transcripts, use .txt or .vtt files.
