When you first sign up for Slant, you create an account and walk through a guided setup to configure your workspace. The experience differs depending on whether you’re the first person at your firm or joining an existing team.
  • First user (admin) — You create your firm’s Slant account and complete a multi-step onboarding setup that includes entering your information, selecting a subscription plan, and connecting your tools.
  • Invited team member — You receive an email invitation from your admin, create your account through the link provided, and land directly on your dashboard with access to the books you were assigned.

Signing up as the first user

The first person to sign up for your firm becomes the admin. After creating your account, Slant automatically creates your company, your first book, and assigns you as the principal user in that book. You’ll briefly see a “Setting up your workspace…” screen while Slant prepares your account, then you’ll be directed to the onboarding setup.

Completing the onboarding setup

The onboarding setup walks you through three sections. A progress bar at the top tracks your progress across all sections.
Only admins complete the onboarding setup. Invited team members skip this flow and go straight to their dashboard.

1: Basic information

This section collects your personal and company details, then sets up your subscription.

User info

Provide the following:
  • Phone number — Your business phone number.
  • Time zone — Automatically detected from your browser. Options include Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, Alaska, and Hawaii time zones.
  • Scheduling link — Your Calendly or other scheduling page URL (optional).
Click Next step to continue.

Company info

  • Company name — Your firm’s name (required).
  • Company website — Your firm’s website URL (optional).
Click Next step to continue.

Payment

Select a subscription plan to unlock the rest of the setup:
  • Monthly — $150/user/month
  • Annual — $1,500/user/year (save $300)
Selecting a plan takes you to Stripe to complete payment. After payment, you’re returned to the setup and can access the remaining sections.

2: Connect your tools

This section is locked until you complete payment.

CRM import

Import your existing client data into Slant. You can import directly from Wealthbox or Redtail, request a migration from another CRM (Salesforce, Advyzon, Practifi, etc.), or skip this step if you don’t have a CRM.

Email

Connect your email to sync messages, calendar events, and enable the meeting notetaker. You can skip this step and connect later, but email is critical for most of Slant’s features. See Email and calendar for details on what gets synced and how to connect.

Phone

Connect a phone integration to sync SMS and call logs. You can skip this step and connect later. See Phone for supported providers and setup details. You can click Skip for now to connect a phone integration later.

3: Validation

Validate CRM

If you imported CRM data, this step shows a summary of your import with counts for clients, prospects, and other contacts. Click Review import to verify and finalize your data before it’s applied. If no import was started, you can skip this step.

Schedule onboarding

Schedule a call with the Slant team to get help getting the most out of Slant. A Calendly calendar is embedded directly in the page — pick a time that works for you. You can skip this and schedule later. Click Complete setup to finish onboarding and go to your dashboard.

Accepting a team invitation

When an admin invites you to join their firm’s Slant account, you receive an email with a signup link. Invitations expire after 30 days.
1

Open the invitation email

Click the signup link in the email you received.
2

Create your account

Complete the signup form to create your Slant account.
3

Start using Slant

You’re automatically granted access to the books your admin assigned. You’ll land on your dashboard and can start working right away.
If your invitation has expired, ask your admin to resend it.

After setup

Once onboarding is complete (or if you’re an invited team member), you land on your dashboard. The dashboard shows:
  • Today’s meetings — Your scheduled meetings for the day.
  • Important emails — Recent inbound emails from clients and prospects.
  • Nudges — Suggestions to reach out for client birthdays, job changes, and more.
  • Your tasks — Tasks assigned to you, sorted by due date.
From here, explore the sidebar to access your clients, tasks, meetings, and more.
