Slant has a dedicated import process for Wealthbox that brings in your households, people, tasks, notes, opportunities, tags, custom fields, and more.

What transfers from Wealthbox

  • Files (remain in Wealthbox; connect a storage integration for document management)

Export from Wealthbox

Slant imports Wealthbox data from a JSON export file, not a CSV. Follow these steps to export from Wealthbox:
  • Log in to Wealthbox
  • Go to Settings > Data backup (direct link: https://app.crmworkspace.com/settings/data_backup)
  • Click the Request Export button
  • Wait 1—2 minutes for the export to complete (you may need to reload the page)
  • Download the .json or .zip file to your computer

Import into Slant

During onboarding

When setting up Slant for the first time:
  • Select Wealthbox as your CRM
  • Upload the JSON or ZIP file you downloaded
  • Click Process my export
  • Continue with the onboarding flow
Slant processes the file in the background. You can proceed with other setup steps while it runs.

From settings

  • Navigate to Settings > Data import
  • Click New import and select Wealthbox
  • Upload your JSON or ZIP file

Choose who to import

After the file is processed, Slant shows the Wealthbox users and tags found in your export:
  • Select users — Choose which Wealthbox users’ contacts to import
  • Select tags — Optionally filter by tag to import only tagged contacts
You must select at least one user or tag to proceed.

Decide who becomes a client

Specify how to classify imported contacts as clients or prospects:
  • Contact type — Select which Wealthbox contact types should be marked as clients
  • Tags — Select which tags should designate a contact as a client
Contacts that match these criteria become clients. Everyone else becomes a prospect.

Start the import

Click Start import. Slant imports the data into your book. The import status updates as it progresses:
  • Reading file — Parsing the JSON and creating import items
  • Importing — Importing data into Slant
  • Completed — Import finished; ready for review

Accept the import

After the import completes, review the results. When you are satisfied:
  • Click Accept import
  • Slant queues data enrichment for up to 1,000 records, starting with clients

After import

Verify your data

  • Check that household counts match your expectations
  • Open key clients and verify their data
  • Confirm people are in the correct households with the right roles
  • Verify tasks and notes are associated with the correct records

Post-import tasks

  • Set service tiers — Wealthbox categories may not map directly to Slant’s A/B/C/D tiers; review and assign them
  • Connect integrations — Email, calendar, and custodian connections need to be set up separately in Slant
  • Review relationships — Head of household and spouse designations may need adjustment

Tips

  • Export everything at once. Going back for additional exports adds time.
  • Clean up before you migrate. Merged duplicates and updated records in Wealthbox mean cleaner data in Slant.
  • Keep Wealthbox accessible during transition. Maintain read-only access for reference.
