Quick answers to common questions about Slant.

Getting started

Slant is a CRM designed for wealth management advisors. It helps you manage client relationships, track tasks and meetings, automate workflows, and grow your practice.
After signing up, connect your email account, add your first client, and explore the interface. See the Introduction for an overview of Slant’s core features.
A book is your workspace in Slant. It contains all your clients, prospects, tasks, and data. Most advisors have one book, but larger firms may have multiple books for different teams. Learn more in the Glossary.
Clients are households you actively serve. Prospects are potential clients you’re cultivating. Prospects can be converted to clients when they sign on. Both are types of households in Slant.

Email and calendar

Slant integrates with Gmail/Google Workspace, Microsoft 365/Outlook, and Exchange. See Connecting email accounts for setup instructions.
Emails synced to Slant are visible to team members who have access to the same book. Internal company emails (within your domain) are filtered out. You can also use the blacklist feature to exclude specific senders.
Yes. Once you connect your email account, you can compose and send emails directly from client records. Emails are sent through your actual email account, so they appear in your sent folder.
New emails typically sync within a few minutes. The exact timing depends on your email provider.

Clients and contacts

A household represents a family unit (e.g., “The Smith Family”). People are individuals within that household (John Smith, Jane Smith). Every household has at least one person — the head of household.
Other contacts are professional relationships that aren’t clients — CPAs, attorneys, referral sources, etc. They have their own section separate from your clients and prospects.
You can import via CSV file or migrate from another CRM. See Importing data for options.
Yes. If you have duplicate households, you can merge them to consolidate the data.

Tasks and productivity

Yes. When creating a task, you can set it to recur on a schedule. See Recurring tasks.
Labels help you categorize tasks (e.g., “Follow-up,” “Compliance,” “Admin”). They’re created at the company level so your team uses consistent categories. See Task labels.

Automation

Workflows are automations triggered by events (new client created, tag added, etc.) that can perform actions like creating tasks or sending emails. Sequences are specifically for sending timed email campaigns to multiple recipients.
There is a limit of 100 active enrollees across all sequences at any time. This protects email deliverability and ensures quality outreach.
No. Sequence emails only send during business hours (9 AM — 5 PM) on weekdays in your timezone.

Integrations

If your firm has custodian integration set up, account data syncs automatically each night. You link custodian accounts to households, and portfolio data (balances, holdings) appears in Slant. See Custodian integrations.
Slant integrates with email providers (Google, Microsoft, Exchange), phone systems (RingCentral, MyRepChat), storage providers (Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, ShareFile, Egnyte, OneDrive), and custodians. See Integrations overview for the full list.
Yes. Slant uses encryption for data in transit and at rest, OAuth for email integration (no passwords stored), and PII filtering before data is sent to AI models. See the Security documentation for details.

Team and permissions

Go to Settings > Team and invite a new team member. Enter their email and set their role. They’ll receive an invitation to join. See Team members.
Book roles include Principal (the advisor who owns the book), Contributor (full data access), and Viewer (read-only access). A custom permissions system provides additional resource-level controls. See Permissions.
All team members with access to a book can see all clients in that book. For separate client lists, use multiple books with different team access.
