How integrations work

OAuth connections

Most integrations use OAuth for secure connection:
  • Click Connect in Slant settings
  • Sign in to the external service
  • Grant permissions
  • Slant accesses data securely
Benefits of OAuth:
  • No passwords stored in Slant
  • Revocable at any time
  • Limited to necessary permissions

API key connections

Some integrations (like MyRepChat) connect via API keys:
  • Get API credentials from the service
  • Enter them in Slant settings
  • Slant connects using those credentials

Data flow

Integrations can be:
  • One-way in — Data flows into Slant (custodian data)
  • Two-way — Data syncs both directions (email, calendar)

Setting up integrations

Each integration type has its own settings page:
  • Email and calendarSettings > Email and calendar accounts
  • CustodiansSettings > Custodian (advisor code configuration)
  • PhoneSettings > Phone
  • StorageSettings > File storage

Individual vs. shared connections

Some integrations are per-user:
  • Email accounts
  • Calendar access
  • RingCentral extensions
Some integrations are book-level:
  • Custodian advisor codes
  • Storage providers
  • MyRepChat
  • CurrentClient

Security

  • OAuth authentication — No passwords stored; revocable access anytime
  • Encrypted credentials — API keys are encrypted at rest
  • Read-only where appropriate — Custodian data is read-only
  • Book-scoped access — Team members see data based on their book access

Troubleshooting

Integration disconnected:
  • OAuth token expired
  • Password changed on connected service
  • Service revoked access
Data not syncing:
  • Check integration status in settings
  • Verify permissions are still valid
  • Look for error messages
