Slant can import your Wealthbox data by signing in to your Wealthbox account directly from the import wizard. The wizard downloads your data, then walks you through filtering contacts, mapping them to Slant categories, and reviewing everything before any records are created.Documentation Index

Start the import
Sign in to Wealthbox
Enter your Wealthbox email and password, then click Sign in & import. Slant connects to your account and downloads your data automatically. If your account uses two-factor authentication, you’ll be prompted to enter the verification code sent to your phone.
Your Wealthbox credentials are only used to download your data during the import. They are not stored after the import completes.
Wait for processing
A progress screen shows live counts of the households, people, tasks, notes, and other records found in your data. This may take a few minutes for large accounts.
Upload a file instead
If you prefer not to sign in — or if the automatic download fails — you can upload a Wealthbox export file manually.Export your data from Wealthbox
Log in to Wealthbox and go to Settings → Data Backup. Click the green Request Export button, wait 1–2 minutes for the export to generate (you may need to reload the page), then download the JSON file.
Upload your file
Click the upload area and select your
.json or .zip file. You’ll see the file name and size once it’s attached.Import workflows as projects
If you used workflows in Wealthbox, you can bring them into Slant as project templates. On the upload step, toggle Import workflows as projects and enter your Wealthbox username and password. These credentials are stored encrypted and only used during the import to fetch workflow templates from Wealthbox.Filter contacts
The first step after processing is deciding which contacts to include.- Import all contacts — Brings in every contact from your Wealthbox data.
- Filter contacts prior to import — Only imports contacts that match any of the filters you set:
- Assigned to — Filter by the assigned user in Wealthbox.
- Tags — Filter by Wealthbox tags.
Map contact types
This step controls how your Wealthbox contacts are categorized in Slant. You’ll see three sections, each with filters for Contact type and Tags:- Who becomes a client? — Contacts matching any of these filters are imported as clients.
- Who becomes a past client? — From the remaining contacts, those matching any of these filters are imported as past clients.
- Who becomes a prospect? — From the remaining contacts, those matching any of these filters are imported as prospects.
- What should remaining contacts become? — Contacts that don’t match any of the above are imported as either Other contacts (default) or Prospects.
Review and import
The review step shows every contact that will be imported in a table. For each row you can:- Uncheck the checkbox to exclude a contact from the import.
- Change the category using the dropdown to reassign a contact as client, past client, prospect, or other contact.
- Hover over a name to see a preview card with the household’s people, their roles, contact info, and associated records.
What gets imported
Depending on the data in your Wealthbox account, Slant imports:- Households — Family units with all their members and roles (head of household, spouse, dependents)
- People — Individual contact details including email, phone, address, date of birth, and gender
- Standalone individuals — Contacts not assigned to a household are imported as individual households
- Businesses — Business contacts with their associated records
- Trusts — Trust entities and their associated records
- Tasks — Tasks linked to contacts, including comments
- Notes — Notes linked to contacts
- Phone calls — Wealthbox phone calls are imported as Slant Notes on the linked household, business, or trust. Each note’s body starts with a header line (“Phone call by [creator] on [date/time]”) followed by the call’s comment thread. Re-importing preserves the appended comments without creating duplicates.
- Events — Meetings and calendar events
- Opportunities — Pipeline opportunities linked to contacts
- Custom fields — User-defined fields from Wealthbox are automatically created as custom fields in Slant
Wealthbox tags are converted to tags in Slant during the import. Any Wealthbox data that doesn’t map to a specific Slant field is preserved as a note on the contact so nothing is lost.
Field mapping reference
These tables summarize the Wealthbox data Slant can bring in and where that data appears after import. From the JSON export
| Wealthbox field/concept | Slant field/concept | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Workspace ID / name | Not imported | |
| Contacts: type = Household | Household | Creates a household in Slant. The final Slant type is controlled by import mapping rules: client, past client, prospect, or remaining-item behavior. |
| Contacts: type = Person | Person / Household | Creates a person in Slant. If the person belongs to a Wealthbox household, Slant adds them to that household. If not, Slant creates an individual household for that person. |
| Contacts: type = Organization | Business | Creates a business record in Slant. |
| Contacts: type = Trust | Trust | Creates a trust record in Slant. If Wealthbox identifies a grantor or trustee who is also imported, Slant attaches the trust to that person’s household. |
| Contacts: Household fields | Household fields | Includes household name, household status, and important/background information. |
| Contacts: Person with a household | Person in household | The person is added to the Wealthbox household referenced on the person record. |
| Contacts: Person without a household | Standalone household with person | Slant creates an individual household for the person so the contact can be imported into Slant’s household-based data model. |
| Contacts: Person fields | Person fields | Includes first name, middle name, last name, preferred name/nickname, salutation/prefix, suffix, date of birth, and date of death. |
| Contacts: Person gender | Person gender | Mapped values include female, male, non-binary, and unknown. Unknown is imported as other. |

| Contacts: Organization fields | Business fields | Includes organization name, industry/occupation, website, and background information. If the organization name is blank, Slant assigns a placeholder business name using the Wealthbox ID, such as Business #12345. |

| Contacts: Organization tax ID / SSN | Business tax ID | Slant uses tax ID first. If tax ID is blank, Slant uses SSN. |

What happens to contacts that don't match any filters?
