Slant can import your Wealthbox data by signing in to your Wealthbox account directly from the import wizard. The wizard downloads your data, then walks you through filtering contacts, mapping them to Slant categories, and reviewing everything before any records are created.

Start the import

1

Open data import settings

Go to SettingsData import.
2

Click **New import**

3

Select **Wealthbox** as the source and click **Next**

4

Sign in to Wealthbox

Enter your Wealthbox email and password, then click Sign in & import. Slant connects to your account and downloads your data automatically. If your account uses two-factor authentication, you’ll be prompted to enter the verification code sent to your phone.
Your Wealthbox credentials are only used to download your data during the import. They are not stored after the import completes.
5

Wait for processing

A progress screen shows live counts of the households, people, tasks, notes, and other records found in your data. This may take a few minutes for large accounts.
Once processing is complete, the wizard advances to the filter step.

Upload a file instead

If you prefer not to sign in — or if the automatic download fails — you can upload a Wealthbox export file manually.
1

Export your data from Wealthbox

Log in to Wealthbox and go to SettingsData Backup. Click the green Request Export button, wait 1–2 minutes for the export to generate (you may need to reload the page), then download the JSON file.
2

Switch to file upload

On the Wealthbox sign-in screen, click I have my Wealthbox export file.
3

Upload your file

Click the upload area and select your .json or .zip file. You’ll see the file name and size once it’s attached.
4

Create the import

Click Create import. Slant processes your file and extracts the data.

Import workflows as projects

If you used workflows in Wealthbox, you can bring them into Slant as project templates. On the upload step, toggle Import workflows as projects and enter your Wealthbox username and password. These credentials are stored encrypted and only used during the import to fetch workflow templates from Wealthbox.

Filter contacts

The first step after processing is deciding which contacts to include.
  • Import all contacts — Brings in every contact from your Wealthbox data.
  • Filter contacts prior to import — Only imports contacts that match any of the filters you set:
    • Assigned to — Filter by the assigned user in Wealthbox.
    • Tags — Filter by Wealthbox tags.
Choose your option and click Continue to mappings.

Map contact types

This step controls how your Wealthbox contacts are categorized in Slant. You’ll see three sections, each with filters for Contact type and Tags:
  1. Who becomes a client? — Contacts matching any of these filters are imported as clients.
  2. Who becomes a past client? — From the remaining contacts, those matching any of these filters are imported as past clients.
  3. Who becomes a prospect? — From the remaining contacts, those matching any of these filters are imported as prospects.
  4. What should remaining contacts become? — Contacts that don’t match any of the above are imported as either Other contacts (default) or Prospects.
A sidebar shows a live count of how many contacts fall into each category as you configure your mappings. Click Continue to review when you’re done.

Review and import

The review step shows every contact that will be imported in a table. For each row you can:
  • Uncheck the checkbox to exclude a contact from the import.
  • Change the category using the dropdown to reassign a contact as client, past client, prospect, or other contact.
  • Hover over a name to see a preview card with the household’s people, their roles, contact info, and associated records.
The last column shows associated record counts — how many tasks, notes, events, and opportunities are linked to each contact. When you’re satisfied with the selections, click Import. Slant creates the records in the background — you can close the window and continue using Slant while the import runs. A progress indicator shows the percentage complete and how many records have been imported.

What gets imported

Depending on the data in your Wealthbox account, Slant imports:
  • Households — Family units with all their members and roles (head of household, spouse, dependents)
  • People — Individual contact details including email, phone, address, date of birth, and gender
  • Standalone individuals — Contacts not assigned to a household are imported as individual households
  • Businesses — Business contacts with their associated records
  • Trusts — Trust entities and their associated records
  • Tasks — Tasks linked to contacts, including comments
  • Notes — Notes linked to contacts
  • Events — Meetings and calendar events
  • Opportunities — Pipeline opportunities linked to contacts
  • Investment accounts — Manual investment accounts from Wealthbox
  • Custom fields — User-defined fields from Wealthbox are automatically created as custom fields in Slant
Wealthbox tags are converted to tags in Slant during the import. Any Wealthbox data that doesn’t map to a specific Slant field is preserved as a note on the contact so nothing is lost.

FAQ

Processing your data typically takes a few minutes depending on the size of your account. The final import step also runs in the background — you’ll see a progress bar showing the percentage complete.
The import continues in the background. You can check its progress by returning to SettingsData import and clicking on the import.
Yes. Each import is tracked separately on the Data import page. Be aware that running multiple imports from the same Wealthbox account may create duplicate records.
If you chose to filter contacts, only contacts matching your filters are included. On the mapping step, any contacts that don’t match the client, past client, or prospect filters are imported as either other contacts or prospects, depending on the option you select.
Slant matches Wealthbox users to Slant users by email address. If a match is found, the contact is assigned to that user. If no match is found, the contact is assigned to the book’s principal.
