Enrolling adds a household to a sequence so they receive its emails and tasks automatically. You can enroll households manually from the sequence detail page or automatically through workflow automation.

Manual enrollment

  • Open the sequence you want to enroll into
  • Click Enroll household in the top-right corner
  • Optionally select a Sending account to override the default email integration for this enrollment
  • Search for and select a household
  • Configure email recipients — choose which people receive emails as To, CC, BCC, or None
  • Click Create enrollment
Note: The sequence must be enabled before you can enroll households. At least one “To” recipient with a valid email address is required.

Recipient configuration

When you select a household, Slant shows all people with email addresses. For each person, choose their recipient role:
  • To — Primary recipient (at least one required)
  • CC — Copied on all emails
  • BCC — Blind copied on all emails
  • None — Not included in emails
By default, the head of household and spouse/partner are set as “To” recipients. Unsubscribed email addresses are excluded automatically.

Automated enrollment

Use workflows to enroll households automatically based on triggers.

Set up workflow enrollment

  • Navigate to Workflows and create a new workflow
  • Choose a trigger event (e.g., household created, tag added)
  • Add the Add to sequence action
  • Select which sequence to enroll into
  • Publish the workflow
There is also a Remove from sequence workflow action that can exit a household from a specific sequence or all sequences. Learn more about workflows

Enrollment limits

Slant limits active enrollments to protect email deliverability:
LimitValue
Total active enrollments100 across all sequences in a book
Per sequenceNo specific limit (shares the 100 total)
Example: If you have 60 active enrollments in Sequence A and 30 in Sequence B, you can enroll 10 more total until some finish or are removed.

Check enrollment count

The sequence detail page shows the current enrollment count in the top-right corner (e.g., “42/100 contacts enrolled”). Each sequence in the list also shows its active and total enrollment counts.

Sending account priority

When an email step executes, Slant determines the sending account in this order:
  1. The sending account selected during enrollment (if set)
  2. The sequence’s default sending account (configured in Settings tab)
  3. The primary email integration of the user associated with the enrollment

Automatic exit conditions

Enrollments automatically finish when:
  • A recipient replies to any email in the sequence
  • A meeting is scheduled with the enrolled household
  • A recipient unsubscribes from emails
  • Someone manually exits the enrollment
  • All steps complete — the enrollment finishes naturally

Duplicate enrollment

A household cannot be enrolled in the same sequence twice simultaneously. If they are already enrolled, you will see an error. To re-enroll, the existing enrollment must first finish or be removed.

Troubleshooting enrollment

”Enrollment limit reached” error

Cause: You have reached the 100 active enrollment limit across all sequences in the book. Fix: Wait for current enrollments to complete, or manually exit lower-priority enrollments to free up space.

”Sequence is disabled” error

Cause: The sequence is not enabled. Fix: Toggle the Enable sequence switch on the sequence detail page.

”No email integration configured” error

Cause: No email integration is available to send from. The sequence has email steps but no sending account is configured. Fix: Set a default sending account in the sequence’s Settings tab, or ensure the enrolling user has a connected email integration.
