Once you’ve created sequences, you’ll need to manage them over time. This guide covers editing sequences, managing active campaigns, and organizing your sequence library.
Edit a sequence
Edit sequence settings
Go to sequences
Navigate to Automation → Sequences.
Select the sequence
Click the sequence you want to edit.
Click Edit
Click Edit or the gear icon.
Update settings
Modify:
- Sequence name
- Description
- Send schedule (business hours, days)
- Reply handling options
Save
Click Save to apply changes.
Edit sequence steps
Open the sequence
Navigate to the sequence.
Click on a step
Select the step you want to modify.
Edit content
Update the email subject, body, or timing.
Save step
Click Save to update the step.
Editing a step affects all future sends. People who already received that step won’t be re-sent the updated version.
Add new steps
Open the sequence
Navigate to the sequence.
Click Add step
Click Add step at the end of the sequence or between existing steps.
Configure the step
Set timing, subject, and email content.
Save
Click Save to add the step.
Remove steps
Open the sequence
Navigate to the sequence.
Find the step
Locate the step to remove.
Click Delete
Click the delete icon on the step.
Confirm
Confirm the deletion.
Removing a step skips it for active enrollees who haven’t reached it yet. They’ll move to the next step in the sequence.
Pause and resume
Pause a sequence
Stop all sends temporarily:
Open the sequence
Navigate to the sequence.
Click Pause
Click the Pause button.
Confirm
The sequence shows as “Paused.”
When paused:
- No emails are sent
- Enrollees remain in their current position
- New enrollments are held
Resume a sequence
Open the paused sequence
Navigate to the sequence.
Click Resume
Click the Resume button.
Sequence resumes
Emails begin sending again from where they paused.
Pause for a specific enrollee
Pause just one person without affecting others:
Go to enrollees
Open the sequence and click Enrollees.
Find the enrollee
Locate the person to pause.
Click Pause
Click the pause icon next to their name.
Manage enrollees
View active enrollees
Open the sequence
Navigate to the sequence.
Click Enrollees
Click the Enrollees tab.
View list
See all current enrollees, their status, and progress.
Enrollee statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|
| Active | Currently progressing through sequence |
| Paused | Temporarily stopped |
| Completed | Finished all steps |
| Exited | Manually removed or auto-exited |
| Replied | Responded to a sequence email |
Remove an enrollee
Find the enrollee
In the enrollees list, locate the person.
Click Remove
Click the Remove or exit icon.
Confirm
They won’t receive further emails from this sequence.
Bulk enrollee actions
Select multiple enrollees for bulk actions:
- Check the boxes next to names
- Choose action from bulk menu:
- Pause selected
- Resume selected
- Remove selected
Duplicate a sequence
Create a copy to modify:
Open the sequence
Navigate to the sequence to copy.
Click Duplicate
Click the … menu and select Duplicate.
Name the copy
Enter a name for the new sequence.
Edit as needed
Modify the duplicated sequence.
The copy includes all steps but no enrollees.
Archive a sequence
Remove unused sequences from your active list:
Open the sequence
Navigate to the sequence.
Click Archive
Click the … menu and select Archive.
Confirm
The sequence moves to archived.
Archiving a sequence exits all active enrollees. Make sure the sequence is empty before archiving.
View archived sequences
Go to sequences
Navigate to Automation → Sequences.
Show archived
Toggle Show archived or filter by status.
Restore an archived sequence
Find archived sequence
Show archived sequences.
Click Restore
Click Restore on the sequence.
Sequence is active
It returns to your active sequences list.
Delete a sequence
Deleting a sequence is permanent and cannot be undone. All historical data about the sequence is removed.
Archive first
Archive the sequence and exit all enrollees.
Find in archives
Locate the archived sequence.
Click Delete
Click Delete in the menu.
Confirm deletion
Type the sequence name to confirm.
Organize sequences
Use naming conventions
Organize sequences with consistent names:
[Type] - [Purpose] - [Version]
- “Prospect - Initial Nurture - v2”
- “Client - Annual Review Follow-up”
- “Referral - Thank You Series”
Group by purpose
Consider grouping sequences:
- Prospect sequences — Nurturing leads
- Client sequences — Ongoing engagement
- Event sequences — Webinars, seminars
- Seasonal sequences — Year-end, tax season
Regularly check sequence metrics:
- Open rates by step
- Reply rates
- Completion rates
- Unsubscribes
Low-performing sequences should be revised or archived.
Sequence analytics
Open the sequence
Navigate to the sequence.
Click Analytics
Click the Analytics or Reports tab.
Review metrics
See performance data for the sequence.
Key metrics

Troubleshooting
Emails not sending
Check:
- Sequence is not paused
- It’s within business hours
- Enrollee hasn’t exited
- Email integration is connected
Enrollees stuck
If someone isn’t progressing:
- Check if they’re paused
- Verify the wait time hasn’t passed
- Look for errors in the enrollee detail
