Compliance request
Provide data for an audit:
- Determine what data is needed
- Filter to relevant records/time period
- Export requested data types
- Review before sharing
Export best practices
Filter first
Don’t export more than you need:
- Use filters to narrow results
- Export only relevant columns
- Reduces file size and sensitive data exposure
Verify before sharing
Review exports before sending:
- Check data looks complete
- Remove any unnecessary columns
- Verify no sensitive data is exposed
Secure storage
Handle exports carefully:
- Don’t email unencrypted
- Store on secure drives
- Delete when no longer needed
- Know your retention requirements
Document exports
Track your exports:
- What was exported
- When and why
- Who received it
- When to delete
Troubleshooting
Export takes too long
For large exports:
- Try exporting in smaller batches
- Filter to reduce record count
- Exports process in background for large sets
File won’t open
If the CSV won’t open correctly:
- Try opening with text editor first
- Check for encoding issues
- Use “Import” function in Excel rather than double-clicking
Missing data
If exported data seems incomplete:
- Check your filters
- Verify you have permission to see all records
- Some fields may only export for certain record types
