Invitations require a published form, and at least one person in the household needs an email address on their record.
Send an invitation
1
Start the invitation
On the Invitations tab, click New invitation — or click Send invitation on a form’s detail page.
2
Choose the form and recipient
Select a published form and the client or prospect. The preview on the right shows the form filled in with that household’s information.
3
Choose how to send it
Under Send from, keep the Slant email address (recommended — it supports automatic reminders) or select your connected email account to send from your own address.
4
Click Next
5
Review the email and reminders
Adjust the form name, choose which household members receive the email (To, CC, BCC, or None — at least one To recipient is required), choose whether to copy yourself, and set the reminder settings. Sending from your own address lets you edit the subject and message.
6
Click Send invitation
Sending from your own email requires a send-capable connected account — see Email and calendar integrations.
Send yourself a test
Walk through the form the way a client will before you send it to anyone real. On the form’s detail page, click Send me a test as John Doe in the right panel. Slant emails a prefilled invitation link to your own address. The email and the form are marked Test mode, and you complete the form as a sample recipient named John Doe rather than as yourself. Nothing you enter is saved as a submission, and picking a meeting time doesn’t book an appointment. The test link expires after 7 days. The button stays unavailable until the form is published, and for archived forms.Other ways to send a form
You don’t have to start from the Intake forms page:- From a household — on a client or prospect page, open the ⋮ menu and select Send form. The invitation flow opens with that household already selected. Not available for past clients.
- From chat — ask Book chat or a household’s chat to send a form, for example “Send the client intake form to the Smiths.”
- From an automation — add the Send intake form action to a household automation so the form goes out whenever the automation runs. See automations below.
- From Zapier or the API — use the Send Intake Form action in Zapier, which lists your published forms so you can pick one in the Zap, or send invitations through the public API.
Archived forms can’t send invitations, from any of these paths.
Send a form from an automation
Add the Send intake form action to a household automation to invite people without doing it by hand — for example, when a prospect moves into a discovery stage or a new client is created. Configure the action with:- Intake form — only published forms built for clients appear in the list; forms built for prospects, contacts, or businesses can’t be sent from an automation
- Send from — Slant notifications (supports automatic reminders) or Connected email, which then asks for the account to send from
- Recipients — set the head of household and spouse or partner to To, CC, BCC, or none
- Include the book principal as — BCC, CC, or none, when sending from Slant notifications
- Automatic reminders — none, or 1 to 10 reminders, with Business days between reminders from 1 to 30 (default 3)
Automatic reminders
Reminders nudge the recipient by email until they submit. They’re available when sending from the Slant email address — choosing your connected email turns automatic reminders off for that invitation. On the review step, the Automatic reminders toggle is on by default with two settings:- Business days between reminders — 1 to 30 days (default 3)
- Maximum reminders — 1 to 10 reminders (default 3)
Track an invitation
Click an invitation on the Invitations tab to open its detail page. The Activity and reminders timeline shows everything that has happened and what’s scheduled next:- When the invitation was created and sent, and from which address
- When the recipient viewed the form and when they submitted it
- Each reminder — sent, scheduled, or canceled
- Delivery problems, if an email couldn’t be sent
Revoke an invitation
On the invitation’s detail page, click Revoke and confirm.FAQ
