Company-level: admin vs member
Every user in your firm is either an Admin or a Member. This status applies across all of Slant.| Status | Capabilities |

| Admin | Manage company settings, invite users, change admin status, access data customizations (custom fields, tags, labels, templates) |
| Member | Full access to day-to-day features (clients, tasks, meetings, notes). Cannot access company settings or invite users |
Change admin status
- Navigate to Settings → Users and teams.
- Click the status badge next to a user’s name.
- Select Admin or Member.
Book-level roles
Within each book, users have one of three roles that control their access to that specific workspace.| Role | Capabilities |

| Principal | The book owner. Full control. Cannot be removed from the book |
| Contributor | Can create, edit, and manage all records in the book |
| Viewer | Read-only access to the book’s data |
Principal
- Each book has exactly one principal (the advisor who owns it).
- The principal always has full access to the book.
- To transfer book ownership, contact Slant support.
Contributor
Standard access for day-to-day work:- Create and edit clients, prospects, and contacts.
- Create, complete, and manage tasks.
- Send emails and schedule meetings.
- Use workflows and sequences.
Viewer
View-only access for oversight roles:- View client records and activity.
- Cannot create or modify data.

Who should be an admin
Give admin status to:- Practice principals and partners.
- Office managers who configure the system.
- Staff who manage integrations and data customizations.
Who should stay a member
Standard member status works for:- Advisors working with clients day-to-day.
- Support staff managing tasks and communications.
- Operations team handling data entry.
Data visibility
All team members with book access can view:- Household records (clients and prospects).
- Contact information.
- Tasks, meetings, and notes.
- Company profile settings.
- User management and invitations.
- Data customizations (custom fields, tags, labels, templates, pipelines).
Activity tracking
Slant tracks who makes changes:- Record creation and modification.
- Task completion.
- Note authorship.
- Email activity.
Troubleshooting
User cannot perform an action
- Check whether the action requires admin status.
- Verify their book-level role (principal, contributor, or viewer).
- Have them refresh the page or log out and back in.
