The Users and teams page lets you manage who has access to your Slant workspace. Invite new members, control admin status, and organize users into teams.

View team members

  • Navigate to SettingsUsers and teams.
  • The table shows each user’s name, email, status (Admin or Member), and which books they have access to.

Invite a team member

Admins can invite new users to the firm.
1

Click Invite member

Click the Invite member button in the top right.
2

Enter their details

Fill in the new member’s email, first name, and last name.
3

Configure book access

Choose whether to create a new book for the user, or grant access to an existing book.
4

Send the invitation

Click Send invitation. The user receives an email with instructions to join.

Pending invitations

Pending invitations appear in the team table with a Pending badge. Admins can:
  • Resend the invitation email.
  • Revoke the invitation before it is accepted.

Admin vs member

Slant uses two status levels at the company level:
StatusCapabilities
AdminFull access including company settings, user management, and data customizations
MemberAccess to clients, tasks, and day-to-day features. Cannot manage company settings or invite users
Note: The book principal (owner) always has admin-level access to their book.

Change admin status

Admins can promote or demote other users:
  • Find the user in the team table.
  • Click the status badge next to their name.
  • Select Admin or Member from the dropdown.
You cannot change your own admin status.

Add a user to a book

To grant an existing user access to an additional book:
  • Click the Add to book button.
  • Select the user and the book.
Users can belong to multiple books. Each book is independent — being a member of one book does not grant access to others.

Book-level roles

Within each book, users have one of three roles:
RoleDescription
PrincipalThe book owner. Cannot be removed. Full control over the book
ContributorCan create, edit, and manage records in the book
ViewerRead-only access to the book’s data

Teams

Admins can organize users into teams for easier management. The Teams section appears below the user table for admins.

Removing access

When a team member leaves your firm:
  • Remove their access from individual books, or deactivate their account.
  • Tasks and notes they created remain in the system.
  • Open tasks assigned to them should be reassigned.
