Notes help you capture important information about your clients. This guide covers the different ways to create notes in Slant.
Create a note on a client
From the notes tab
Open the client
Navigate to the client or prospect record.
Go to Notes
Click the Notes tab.
Click Add note
Click the Add note button.
Write your note
Enter your note content in the editor.
Save
Click Save to create the note.
From the activity feed
Open the client
Navigate to the client record.
Find the note input
At the top of the activity feed, there’s a quick note input.
Enter your note
Type your note content.
Press Enter or click Save
The note is added to the feed.
Using keyboard shortcut
From a client record, press N then O to open the new note form.
Create a meeting note
Add notes to a specific meeting:
Open the meeting
Navigate to the meeting record.
Go to Notes
Click the Notes tab on the meeting.
Add note
Click Add note or type in the note field.
Save
Notes on meetings auto-save as you type.
Meeting notes are linked to both the meeting and the client record.
Text formatting
Use the toolbar or keyboard shortcuts:

Add links
Select text
Highlight the text to link.
Click link icon
Click the link button in the toolbar.
Enter URL
Paste or type the URL.
Save
Click Add to create the link.
Add lists
For bullet points:
- First item
- Second item
- Third item
For numbered lists:
1. First step
2. Second step
3. Third step
Mention team members
Notify colleagues about a note:
Type @
In the note editor, type @.
Select person
Choose the team member from the dropdown.
Complete note
Finish writing your note.
Save
The mentioned person receives a notification.
Mentioned team members receive an in-app notification and optionally an email, depending on their notification settings.
Use a template
Start from a template for consistent notes:
Click Add note
Open the new note form.
Select template
Click Use template and choose from your templates.
Fill in details
Replace placeholder text with actual information.
Save
Save the completed note.

Edit a note
Find the note
Locate the note in the notes list or activity feed.
Click Edit
Click the edit icon (pencil) on the note.
Make changes
Update the note content.
Save
Click Save to apply changes.
Editing a note updates the “modified” timestamp but preserves the original creation date.
Pin a note
Keep important notes at the top:
Find the note
Locate the note you want to pin.
Click pin icon
Click the pin icon on the note.
Note moves to top
Pinned notes appear above unpinned notes.
To unpin, click the pin icon again.
Delete a note
Deleted notes cannot be recovered. Make sure you want to permanently remove the note.
Find the note
Locate the note to delete.
Click delete
Click the delete icon (trash) or menu → Delete.
Confirm
Click Delete in the confirmation dialog.
Bulk note creation
After a busy day of calls, log notes efficiently:
Quick entry mode
Open a client
Start with the first client to document.
Add note
Use the quick note input in the activity feed.
Navigate to next
Press ⌘ K to search for the next client.
Repeat
Continue through your list.
From recent meetings
If you had meetings:
- Go to Meetings
- Open each meeting
- Add notes to the meeting record
- Notes are automatically linked to clients
Note best practices
Be consistent
Use a standard format for similar notes:

Include context
Good notes answer:
- What was discussed?
- Who was involved?
- What decisions were made?
- What are the next steps?
Timestamp important events
For significant information, note when you learned it:
“Per call on 3/15: Client mentioned they’re considering relocating to Florida for retirement.”
Link notes to relevant tasks, meetings, or other notes:
“See meeting notes from 3/15 annual review for full discussion.”
