Keep templates focused
Each template should serve one purpose:- ✓ “Phone call log” — specific use case
- ✗ “General notes” — too vague
Include prompts, not examples
Use placeholders that guide input:Balance structure and flexibility
Templates should:- Provide enough structure to ensure consistency
- Leave room for unique details
- Not feel restrictive
Review and update regularly
Periodically review templates:- Are they being used?
- Do they capture what’s needed?
- Should sections be added or removed?
Team templates vs personal templates
Team templates (company-wide)
- Created in company settings
- Available to all team members
- Ensure consistency across the team
- Managed by admins
Personal templates
Currently, Slant only supports team-level templates. All templates are shared across the book.Template variables
Some templates support automatic variables:| Variable | Inserts |
|---|---|
{date} | Today’s date |
{client_name} | Client’s name |
{advisor_name} | Your name |
Variable support depends on where you use the template. Not all contexts support all variables.
